Merseyside Expressive Stitchers Group
The new group will be welcoming many of the former MEG members. From early 2020 to 2021 we have been able to share our friendships, interest in textile arts, and some excellent speakers, through Zoom via our computers. We very much look forward to when we can resume meetings in person, once again inspiring each other with our individual expertise, great variety of interests, and enthusiasm to learn.
We hope to resume live meetings in autumn 2021 at
All Hallows Centre, Greenhill Road, Mossley Hill, Liverpool L18 6JJ
When we get back to All Hallows, there will be a varied programme of afternoon talks and day workshops across a broad spectrum of stitchery. Optional morning sessions before afternoon talks offers the opportunity to work on your stitching, share ideas or problems and chat over a cup of tea or coffee and your packed lunch.
Future plans include group visits to textile collections museums and exhibitions, and some social events.
As Merseyside Embroiderers Guild, we held regular exhibitions in venues such as Liverpool Cathedral, The Victoria Galleries and Sefton Park Palm House. In 2019 we contacted National Trust Speke Hall and offered to create an exhibition of embroideries representing Speke Hall and it’s history. We hope to resume the postponed exhibition in 2022 at Speke. Many beautiful pieces of work have already been created.
We welcome new members from all walks of life with an interest in any type of stitchery or a desire to learn all about what we do. Whatever your textile and stitchcraft interests are, or levels of ability, the varied programme and opportunities offer something for everyone.
In the meantime, talks will continue via Zoom.
