Exhibition runs from 2nd September 2020 and extends into 2021.
Nikki Parmenter is a mixed media artist who makes large-scale textural sculptured pieces. her work for this exhibition is a mixture of flora and fauna inspired by the ancient Roman festival Floralia. This festival honouring Flora, goddess of the flowers, included floral wreaths worn in the hair and deer and hares as symbols of fertility. Nikki has created two new pieces for this exhibition inspired by the textile collection: FLOWER POWER TOWER a six storey structure based on a traditional tulip vase form, and GAWTHORPE CASKET her contemporary interpretation of a stumpwork box.
