Judith transferred from Bath Spa University to Hope University in Liverpool and is about to enter her third year studying Textile Design. During her time at Bath Spa she developed a love of texture and colour. Her work starts with observational drawings of the natural world, which are then developed with mixed media collage. Discovering the embroideries of Karen Nicol led to an interest in the use of traditional embroidery techniques to bring her work to life. Judith was able to have a tutorial and workshop with Karen Nicol and hopes to undertake some work experience with her during her final year.
The images that we received showed that she particularly likes images of birds and has used embroidery and hand cut sequins to add texture to her brightly-coloured work. Another image of a doll used machine embroidery and applique. I thought that it looked like some of the work that Louise Gardiner produced.
Judith now lives with her family in Wallasey on the Wirral and hopes to help with the YE group of MEG.

Special Study: The Human Void: an exploration of consumerism in fashion
In the darkness something was happening at last.
This brief sentence sums up the melody of my project, which is the transition from one realm into another. Letting go of the old to embrace the new. Throughout my years of being a creative I can’t help but observe the wonders of nature and how everything has meaning, purpose and life. To me it’s God revealing His hidden mysteries about growth, solidarity, oneness and unity, and so I am motivated to bring this perception out from within, in hope that it will bring a sense of enlightenment to its viewers in an aesthetically pleasing fashion.
My recent project illustrates biblical scriptures taken from Songs of Solomon, which is a biblical manuscript that speaks of love and awakening. I,m often immersed in telling stories through my work; finely detailing and embellishing my pieces to create depth, trueness and a method of entering into my little Heaven.
They witnessed her destruction, and then were left to wonder why, she saw nothing but darkness though the stars shone in her eyes, but maybe they’d forgotten, when they failed to see the cracks, that a star shines the brightest, when it is starting to collapse. Quote by Erin Hanson
