In January 2018 Kim Parkman facilitated 3 separate groups of up to 15 MEG members on a tour behind the scenes at Liverpool World Museum to research for our upcoming ENDEAVOUR exhibition. We were shown round by Wendy Atkinson and Tony Parker, and our thanks go to them for making us so welcome and for sharing their extensive knowledge. We were privileged to view Banks’ Florilegium, Part 34, Tierra del Fuego. This depicted plants gathered and classified by Joseph Banks during his first voyage round the world 1768 – 1771 and the drawings were done by Sydney Partington aboard ship during the voyage.

Later we went to view taxidermy animals and birds from Australia, Java nad New Zealand.

We ended the day by visiting the World Cultures Gallery (which is now closed for some weeks for refurbishment)
